Welcome to Refugee Health - Vancouver

Refugee Health Vancouver is a practical resource to support clinicians who provide care to refugees in British Columbia.

Need a patient handout on diabetes in Farsi? Looking for a Spanish-speaking dentist in Vancouver who offers reduced fees? Not sure what convention refugees are, why they would flee Myanmar, or how you can bill to care for them? This site pulls together the answers for you.

About Us

Purpose

The Refugee Health Vancouver website is an effort by Vancouver area clinicians with expertise in refugee medicine to pull together the resources pertinent to the care of our local refugee population. Medical care of these patients is challenging due to issues of language, culture, unique medical diagnoses and non-standard medical coverage. By providing fingertip access to comprehensive, locally relevant resources we hope to support family physicians and other care providers in the BC communities in which refugees settle.

Contributors

The Refugee Health Vancouver website is owned and operated by Martina Scholtens MD CCFP. The website functions with the generous support of the sponsors below, and the contributions of resources from stakeholders across BC, particularly Bridge Refugee Clinic.

Credit for original material on this site is included at the end of each article.

This site is a work in progress. If you would like to contribute, please contact us.
